Drone fragments with explosive charge destroyed near Luncavița, Romania

Recovery; origin unresolved

On 26 April 2026 further drone fragments were reported between Luncavița and Văcăreni in Tulcea County, Romania, a day after fragments were found near a farm at Văcăreni. An explosive charge was confirmed among the material, and an RO-Alert safety warning was issued.

The provenance of the fragments is under investigation, and an investigation by prosecutors at the Constanța Court of Appeal was reported. When the drone flew or came down is unknown. The fragments are not confirmed as a second complete drone, and it has not been established whether they and the previous day’s find came from one airframe or more.

Pyrotechnicians from the SRI and specialists from Romania’s defence ministry (MApN) assessed the material, which was then destroyed in a controlled detonation on site under the prosecutor’s authority. No casualties were reported.
