Greece reports nine airspace violations by four Turkish UAVs in Aegean
· Northeastern / southeastern Aegean · Greek-reported Turkish UAVs
Greek-authority-reported Turkish UAV airspace violations
On 6 October 2026 a Greek military (GEETHA) bulletin, reproduced that evening by Liberal, reported four Turkish UAVs over the northeastern and southeastern Aegean. It recorded nine violations of national airspace and seven infringements of the Athens flight information region (FIR) by the drones. Exact sites and sortie times were not published.
The Turkish identification is GEETHA’s, and the assessment that the flights violated national airspace remains Greece’s, given the Greek-Turkish airspace dispute. No flight tracks have been independently verified. The bulletin also listed two manned F-16s and a CN-235, which are excluded from the drone figures; it described the F-16s, not the UAVs, as armed.
The UAVs were identified and intercepted under standard procedures. No shoot-down, weapons engagement, crash, casualties or damage were reported. The figures count different things and are not separate incidents.
Attribution and uncertainty
- Origin / operator / attribution
- Turkish military UAVs according to GEETHA, as reproduced in Greek reporting. The national-airspace violation assessment remains attributed to Greece given the Greek-Turkish airspace dispute.
- Investigation / uncertainty
- Original GEETHA bulletin not retrieved directly. High confidence in the published Greek military account; no independently verified flight tracks or airspace-boundary assessment.
