Aerial drone debris recovered 46 nautical miles east of Midia, Romania

Official offshore aerial-debris recovery; not sovereign-territory incursion

On 11 September 2026 a merchant ship reported two aerial-drone fragments in the Black Sea about 46 nautical miles east of Midia, Romania. A Coast Guard patrol vessel recovered both. The Defence Ministry's response chronology lists the time as 16:00.

The area is offshore and outside Romania's territorial sea, in an EEZ-related zone, so the find is not an incursion into Romanian sovereign territory. The debris came from an aerial drone, not a maritime drone. No operator or national attribution has been announced, and the flight or crash date is unknown.

No pyrotechnic hazard was identified. The recovery is separate from beach finds reported on the Romanian coast the same day and from earlier August cases linked to Neptun Deep.
