Navy destroys explosive drone debris found on Tuzla beach, Romania

Explosive aerial-drone debris; preliminary foreign-manufacture assessment

On 22 August 2026 fragments of an aerial drone containing explosives were found in the Tuzla beach area of Constanța County, Romania. The find was reported through the emergency services, the area was cordoned off, and specialists examined the object.

A preliminary assessment by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MApN) indicated Ukrainian manufacture. That finding is preliminary, and the drone’s operator and mission have not been confirmed. The date and route of its original flight are unknown, as is how many drones the fragments came from.

A Navy explosive ordnance disposal team carried out two controlled detonations because the first did not fully destroy the charge; both blasts were part of one disposal. Prosecutors at the Constanța Court of Appeal were notified. No casualties were reported.
