Overnight on 28–29 September 2026 a resident called 112 to report a falling object and a fire on arable land on Insula Mare a Brăilei, opposite Gropeni in Brăila County, Romania. Romania’s defence ministry described the fragments as those of a possible drone; identification and model were pending examination. Foreign origin, operator and nationality are unresolved, and the ministry reported no radar-detected unauthorised entry into Romanian airspace during the preceding night. The reported fall and fire do not establish a confirmed drone crash or explosion.

No casualties or material damage were reported. Interior Ministry and Romanian Intelligence Service teams secured the perimeter, and the defence ministry said a specialist team would examine the area; a completed examination or retrieval had not been reported.
