Drone crashes in northern Tulcea, Romania; wreckage in Măcin Mountains
· Northern Tulcea · Măcin Mountains
Crash/recovery cluster; exact event boundaries unresolved
On 14 August 2026 at least one drone crashed in northern Tulcea County, Romania. An emergency call reported a crash in a forest, which caused localised burning. Initial reports placed it near Luncavița and Cetățuia; later reports located wreckage near Greci, in the Măcin Mountains. The drone reportedly flew low enough to escape radar, and its route is unknown.
The drone’s origin and model were not established in contemporary reporting. It is also unresolved whether the Luncavița and Greci reports describe one crash site or linked or separate sites.
Military specialists responded with helicopter support, and the Border Police set up a cordon. A later follow-up reported a controlled disposal in the Măcin Mountains the same day; the exact charge was not established. No casualties or property damage were reported. A separate object discovered the same day at Plauru is a different incident.
